With the race over, I want to thank each and every one of you for the support you have given to me over the last days and months. There were obviously very daunting obstacles that we needed to overcome to win - and though we tried mightily, it was not enough.
The campaign connected us all to a cause that was right and needed. We all know we have a city in distress and that immediate steps must be taken to reverse the decline. Public apathy is probably the greatest challenge before us, and if nothing else, we demonstrated we were willing to take action and put ourselves in a position to address the issues.
While the election results did not conclude the way we wanted, we have the knowledge that we raised the flag on issues and presented alternatives. We saw the importance of bringing our voice to the table. We were able to offer our ideas and strategies for a better city. There are still many ways each of us can affect the future of our city and each of us should look for those opportunities.
I wish the best of luck to the incoming administration, they face a daunting task ahead of them, but I am sure they are up to the challenge.
